But what if you don't have a product to sell ? Well Monique Harris claims that there is a product that "anyone" can sell. Let's read on and find out. Regards, Harvey
2. Marketing Tips Online Pro-Active Marketing Strategies - by Nancy Roebke
Online marketing works when one is proactive with the things they try. I use the options listed below with articles and autoresponders pulling the absolute best. I use both of those things every single day for marketing. 1. Classified Ads: ... thousands of places to do this such as Prodigy, CompuServe, America Online, Web site Malls, Newsgroups, E-mail Newsletters, and more. I have a whole list of free ones at my site at http://www.profnet.org/classifieds.htm ...it helps to offer something FREE in your ad like a catalog, report or a newsletter to get your prospects attention. 2. Web Site Storefront: this is a standard webpage. 3. Newsgroup/Usenet Postings: ... offer something FREE like a catalog, report, press release, etc. and tell them how to get it... now. 4. E-mail Marketing: ...your own e-mail list...purchased lists...swap lists...There is a right way to do this so it isn't spam, but if you don't know how, don't do it without learning. I would *hate* for anyone to lose their accounts because of lack of knowledge. My absolute favorite thing is to share lists and do a dual promotion with a firm that has the same client base but doesn't compete. 5. "Signature" Tag: I have found that the shorter the tag, the better it pulls... 6. Press Releases: ... offline in newspapers and magazines.... online, Web magazines, Newsgroups and archives. I have a list of places you can submit to as well as information on how to write a great press release at http://www.profnet.org/press.html 7. Web Site URL/E-mail Tags: ...... on all pieces of information that leave your office... ads, envelopes, e-mail, letterheads, flyers, shipping labels,... 8. Publishing Articles: I currently write for 20 or so online publications and numerous offline ones. I have a list of 110 Editors who accept articles if anyone is interested. These publications are both on and offline publications. 9. Leading Forum Discussions: Conducting an online conference in a forum is a great way to boost your credibility and visibility with a receptive audience. The main conference rooms on America Online, CompuServe, and other online services are always booked with nationally-known movie or media stars, but special interest groups or forums are always looking for experts that can speak to their audiences. 10. Reciprocal Web "Links": I recently published an article on the reasons to and how to link with one's competitors. If anyone is interested in that article, please email me privately. (execdirector@profnet.org) 11. Autoresponders: Put autoresponders in your classified ads online, Web site, etc. ...they provide a digest of all e-mail addresses that contacted your autoresponder. Save these for follow-up marketing. In the month of September, I had 1878 requests from my autoresponders. Anyone needing help getting some set up, I can help with that. 12. "Sub Dealer" Relationships: ..... allowing other Web sites to sell your products. If a sale is generated, you fulfill the order and pay the Web site owner a referral commission. 13. Networking functions- but choose these functions carefully or they could be a waste of time. I have an article on how to select networking functions if anyone is interested.

3. Readers Forum Last week I mentioned the site at http://www.stroede.se/enkat01.htm that was written in a foreign language with just one line of English, which said "The SuperTips Book of Internet Marketing" and asked if anyone knew what they were saying about me. Well I had no idea that there was software on the Net which could translate from one language to another. Moreover one of our readers had such a product on her site ! Sharon Gladson at <http://www.global-abundance.com> However this only used the major languages so I then went to http://www.tranexp.com/win/dict/InterTran.cgi on the advice of James (no surname) who suggested it was Norwegian. I suppose these products translate word for word because it threw up some strange sentences like this "But we ferocious have along with levelling" Also it must have assumed that the one line of English "The SuperTips Book of Internet Marketing" was Norwegian, decided to translate it and produced this !! "In spite of the fact that Super Book shame Domestic Marketing " It finally took Andreas from Sweden to tell me the correct language (Swedish of course) and explain that the site was asking people to suggest what was wrong with their current site so that they could apply this to their new one. The reward would be a "widely mentioned book on Internet marketing ....it contains several valuable tips/resources".
And a tip from Steve Ojeda may well boost my affiliate sales. He advised that my use of the word "schemes" had a detrimental effect and would be better replaced by "programs" or "affiliations". For those of you not familiar with affiliate (or reseller) programs they earn you commission for getting customers to order a product. The work involved for you can be as simple as putting a link at your web site and many programs are free to join. I've written an article on this called "How to Profit as a Reseller"
Some sites promote hundreds of such programs. I find this overwhelming
and prefer to concentrate on a select few which you can see
here . 4. Selling Tips
The One Thing That ANYBODY Can Sell Online and Make $20,000 a Year Doing
It
Did you know that over 50% of the Internet population sells something? From apple pies to Zuni fetishes, there's a vendor for almost anything you can think of. Yet, many of these online merchants are barely turning a profit. As a matter of fact, only 16% of wired vendors make over $50,000 a year selling their products and services online. The fact of the matter is that it's all too easy to open an online store. But it's not always so simple choosing a product or service that'll sell faster than fireworks on the Fourth of July. However if you can remember one key phrase about the Internet, you'll always have a revenue stream, regardless of what field you're in, or what you've sold in the past or present. What is this key phrase? "People will always go online for INFORMATION." Technologies can come and go, demographics can change at the drop of hat, but sure as one plus one will always equal two, the Internet will remain an overflowing repository for information. Whether you love it or lump it - it's here to stay. I say love it, and while it's playing such an important role in the usage of the Internet, make some money off of it. You can do this in a number of ways, (become a bookstore affiliate, sell content to Web sites and e-zines, etc), however the quickest and easiest way is to write and sell your own special reports. Popular marketing guru Jeffrey Lant is a strong proponent for the special report, and his catalog features dozens of them for the low price of $7 bucks a piece. Like Dr. Lant you can sell a whole series of special reports from your Web site. And it doesn't matter what field you're in, as special reports can be sold to all types of customers in practically any niche. Let's say you create five different reports, and sell them for $8.95 a piece. (Great price for encouraging impulse buys.) If you sold 1,000 copies of each one, you'd be making $44,750 a year on special reports. That's easy money! Your special report can range from five to twenty pages, and can be priced anywhere from $3 to $19.95 or more, depending on how specialized the information is. Here are three easy steps for creating and selling special reports online: 1) Choose a topic which you have a fair to large amount of interest in. Never haphazardly choose a topic just because you think you'll make a lot of money off of it. You can profit from just about any subject, however your interest in the topic will make writing the report much easier. If you have the secrets for making killer cheescakes, that are low in fat, you can create a special report. If you happen to know all the little tricks-of-the-illegal-trade that auto repair shops use to rip off customers, you've got a hot special report in the making. Ask yourself: What types of information do I enjoy reading the most? What vital data is missing from the materials I currently read? What hobbies or interests do I have that I can write about? What job or skills am I really good at? 2) Stay in tune with the industry/topic you choose to write about. If you want to continuously come up with new ideas, you have to keep up with what's currently going on. So make it a priority to locate, and keep up with at least 10 or 20 different online resources that are applicable to your intended topic. (That's why I say it should be a topic you have a great deal of interest in!) Your three main categories of resources should consist of targeted e-zines, news or information-related Web site, and discussion groups. These resources will not only help you find and create salable ideas, many of them can also be used to market your special report once it's written. For e-zines, check out John Labovitz's E-zine site at, (www.meer.net/~johnl/e-zine-list/), or the E-zine Database at, (www.dominis.com/Zines). To find news or information-related sites, simply do a keyword search at your favorite search engine or directory. Two really good ones are Yahoo! (www.yahoo.com) and Dogpile (www.dogpile.com). A variety of discussion groups can be found at Liszt (www.liszt.com). 3) Market your special report in as many ways as you can. In addition to using your Web site as a marketing vehicle, here are some additional ideas you might want to check out...
* Other peoples Web sites.
* E-zine advertising.
* Send excerpts to targeted resources.
---------- 5. More "Super" Tips If you like Monique's ideas in the above article but you can't think of a suitable topic to write about then this may help you ! A special report here containing over 500 suggested 'how-to' topics. If you would rather let others produce information products that you can sell there is an impressive collection at Future World -------------------------------------------------
In a previous issue I gave an example of how a seemingly trivial change to your website can bring an unexpected return. Here's another. I mentioned earlier my web page for affiliate programs here Originally on this page I had a separate short description for each affiliate program. Which ones do you think received the most clicks ? You may think the ones with the most enticing sales copy. The surprise answer was that the number of clicks was in proportion to the position of the description on the page. The ones at the top had most clicks, steadily decreasing to the end of the page. In other words whichever program appeared at the top had the most clicks, even if the ones below had more effective ad copy. Conclusion: Visitors did not have the patience, even on a fairly short page, to work their way down and try the links at the end. But one simple change reversed this ! On the final program on the page, which was getting the least clicks as explained, there was an offer of 50% commission for selling a product. It was in fact the Future World affiliate program and you can still see it there. I merely changed the colour of the figure '50%' from black to red. That's all. This was sufficient to capture the reader's attention. The obvious lesson: use special effects such as colour or upper case sparingly then when you need it the result will be striking. And here's another improvement that I made which you can make use of. Prior to the descriptions of each program I have now summarized and compared them in a colourful table so you can quickly see the essential features. This fits a screen so no excuse for the reader to miss any of the programs.
